 "A tin job!" 2010-05-17

Good solid printer. So far I have used it only for b&w sheet printing but it produces a clear output in reasonable time. Easy to set up. It does take 20 seconds or more to sort itself out when you print

 "Awful." 2010-05-13

I bought one of these for an office printer after being told that the IP 2600 was not in production anymore. This, apparently, was the upgrade.

To begin with, it cost more than double the price of the 2600. The cartridges cost 2x as much as well because for some inexplicable reason the manufacturers have opted to use 5 cartridges - 4 color 1 black - instead of the 1 black 1 (combined) color that Canon IP printers have always used.

The print quality is not as good to begin with which is a very bad sign. The paper loads from the bottom instead of the usual and much better loading from the tray at the back (though with that said, you can change the options if you don't mind screwing around in the maintenance section). Like I said, I bought this for use in an office, we use thick headed paper. Not super thick mind you, just a bit higher quality than normal A4. But this printer can't handle that and in order to print on anything thicker than A4 you need to remove all the rest of the paper from the loader and feed in a single sheet at a time.

HUGE downgrade from the IP2600, stick with that if you can find it. This 'upgrade' is nothing more than a way for Pixma/Canon to make more money per sale/cartride sale.

"Very satisfactory at this stage" 2010-05-06

Easy to set up and high quality output. Very prompt delivery. But will it last? My last Canon Pixma 4200 was a good printer but only lasted 4yrs

 "Canon IP 3600" 2010-04-27

Good printer for light work. Slow to start up, but once printing the print is very sharp almost laser like. If printing large batches, say 50 sheets at a time, it stops half way through for about 40 seconds and then starts again. it is also prone to paper jams. They are easy to clear by taking off the back cover. but it is annoying. If printing anything up to 10 sheets, there is no problem, but anything greater than that and the machine jams. I have tried various makes of paper and different weights, but it makes no difference. The Canon ink cartridges are very cheap considering some of the other printers on the market

Overall, not a bad printer for the price, but the paper jams let it down, and as I said, if you are a light user then you should be satisfied. But definitely NOT for the office user.

 "Better than I expected" 2010-04-04

Having had some less than pleasing experiences from two other branded photo printers I decided it was time for a change. Necessity being imminent, I opted for an inexpensive printer which would fulfill my requirements and provide a good quality output. The Canon iP3600 photo printer has surpassed this test to my satisfaction.

I would recommend this printer for home/home office uses.
