 "Love It!" 2010-04-11
By Darren Abrahams (Brighton, UK)
This is a fantastic home printer in every way. Fast, quiet and great quality prints. Perfect for what I need running a one man office. My only criticism is that it didn't come with a USB lead which made set up impossible till I got one. If you buybone make sure you have your own lead to start off.

Other than that - well done Canon!

 "High Quality Printer" 2010-03-08
By Mr. Philip Gee
Set this printer up for three pcs to share in an office. Particularly bought for the duplex scanning facility.

Positives

So far I am very impressed by all aspects of this machine. It was very simple to set up on a BT wireless hub with windows wp professional. No hitches unlike other reviews. Just followed the install instructions and was printing within 30mins.

Sending and receiving faxes was a doddle.

Stores about 150 sheets of paper on a tray under the printer, so no need to keep filling up all the time. It has another paper tray at the back for a different paper type.

Aims to please with soft close top and front cover, and even red LEDs to show you've inserted the inks correctly. Comes with paper and software manuals. The on screen manual is interactive and has a simple search and menu system. Really easy to get help from it.

Printing on greyscale fast mode is rapid and is adequate quality for most purposes.

Duplexer is really clever and enables you to print or scan both sides of documents and generate double sided copies. TIP use the scan software that comes with the machine otherwise scanning takes an age. I was using scan2pdf and found this problem. The canon application is very easy to use and generates pdfs for data storage.

The machine is very quiet (unlike an epson bx310fn I sent back to amazon). It even has a setting which makes it even quieter! For receiving faxes in the night apparently.

Negatives

It doesn't appear to be able to fax a double sided document. I don't know why this is as it should be capable. You can get round this by scanning dbl sided then pcfaxing.

Inks seem quite small so not sure how econimical the printer will be. Sometimes you just have to accept quality doesn't always come cheap.

 "Printer for office use" 2010-03-02
By Ka Bahry Webber (UK)
This printer has proved to be quite reliable so far. We did not have too much trouble connecting it to the wireless router. We have linked it to three computers in our office and we have had no issues with it any of them finding the printer. As of having it for a month we would recommend it for medium business use. Not the fastest printer, but definately a step up from our previous model.

"Does a brilliant job for such a cheap unit" 2010-02-15
By R. Chandler
I bought this primarily because I needed a wi-fi network printer that could be accessed from either Windows or Mac (which works perfectly). However, it is the scanning that has revolutionised my filing cabinet! It has an automatic document feeder and can do either simplex or duplex (i.e. both sides of the page) scanning. I've now scanned and shredded the majority of my old paper files - keeping everything in electronic format is so much better and more convenient. The scanning software creates PDF's that are also text-searchable (and text copy/paste etc) due to the built-in OCR - which isn't always perfect but is very good. It will also print in duplex, however duplex printing doesn't appear to use the black ink cartridge for some unknown reason. Duplex printing appears to use the other ink colours to create a "composite" black, which isn't as dark as the proper black ink, which is the only downside of this unit that I've found so far. All-in-all though I'm extremely happy with this unit.

 "Excellent Wireless printer" 2010-02-09
By Mohammad Dashti
Pros: Looks good, quality printing, wireless conectivity with easy setup, good quality photos, works with Win7 without any conflicts (so far!)

Con: Though it has blutooth conectivity, it didn't come with the blutooth- I'm not sure if I can use any USB blutooth on it.
